Koala curiosity

i've wondered why female koala's have an upside down pouch for their babies because kangaroo's have theirs right side up so their youngsters can still see when mommy is hopping a long. i have wondered why they don't have them right side up. and how do they keep their babies inside. and are the babies upside down inside the pouch??
